Hi guys! I just won #linuxcon hashtag contest via twitter yesterday. I just happened to retweet a couple of the Linux Foundation tweets and recieved an email this morning regarding my winnings. I got a confirmation code, went through the checkout process, entered it and the entire ticket price was voided.
I'm going to do some digging to see about where I can stay when I'm there. I'm going to be going to Northern Cali around the 1st of October, so if I can come up with the money for airfare, I should be golden. I will need to find inexpensive hotel accommodations or do some research to see if there are any Portland Linux Lovin' folks that I could possibly shack up with for the few days. Wow. I'm in shock. _________________ StarSunflower.com

I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I'm such a newbie!! I got my flight itinerary, and also set up my schedule, wow. Now I need to map out Portland to get some good bearings because I'll be using public transportation to and fro. _________________ StarSunflower.com

Sounds really cool, when is the thing happening? Sounds like a lot of fun.
I was looking forward to the NM linux fest, they changed the date...don't think I can make it....still might be able to, have to wait and see.
They changed it to 12/19 the last weekend before Christmas, what a terrible time to hold the fest, _________________ Not a complete idiot, some parts are missing. |

I fly out on the 19th, sign in for registration on the 20th, and it goes from the 21st to the 23rd.

I had folks from Cali book my plane ticket, and she has me stuck in Portland for an extra 2 days!!! I actually booked a room last night at an inexpensive hotel that's walking distance from the conference. It just seems so much easier. It's $60 a night and I can keep my stuff locked up in a room, eh? I only had to pay 15% down and will pay the rest when I get there, which by then I will have some extra $ to do so.
That software freedom day-- you mentioned on CL looks cool, too bad there isn't a record on the map for Portland, because I'll be there and have nothing to do for the 19th!! _________________ StarSunflower.com

The pacific northwest rocks! I am from that area and love it. Just rains to much. Keep us informed on your trip, you know we are thinking about you and curious.
Have a great time.

My camera is not so good -- I posted pics anyways.
Pics from Roundtable: The Linux Kernel: Straight From The Source
JEJ Bottomly: Novell
Jonathan Corbet: LWN.net
Greg Kroah-Hartman: Novell
Linux Torvalds: The Linux Foundation
Arjan van de Ven: Intel Corporation
Chris Wright: Red Hat Inc.
From what I gathered, the young guy to the left of Linux is who's maintaining the kernel right now?
I was like 5 feet from Linus during the break after the Roundtable discussion. neato. _________________ StarSunflower.com

So on 2nd part of flight to Portland the guy who sat next to me was actually an IBM employee. He was a super sweet/kind guy. I can't remember what he said that he did there tho. We got into a long discussion of all of the different jobs he's had and I forgot the current one, lol! We talked quite a bit about frontends for Oracle.
I also met this super cool chick from Phoenix.
Oh, I have some good loot too. (Leaf told me that I would definitely be getting some goodies, lol!)
Here's a list:
*Fedora 11
*Ubuntu 9.04
*OpenSuse 11.1
*Suse Linux Enterprise 11 for 32 & 64 bit server, also the Desktop included in the 3 cd bundle
*Oracle Database Developer DVD (they said they'd have a different cd tomorrow)
*Linuxcon tote bag
*Linuxcon shirt
*Moblin women's tee
*Free Geek Sticker
*Linuxcon/Linux Foundation stickers
*Fedora Temporary Tattoo
*A squishy "nerf" like penguin from the free geek booth
Lol! Gotta scoot for now. _________________ StarSunflower.com
