nuttin' yet - just posted this on CL -
advertised as a 10 cell high capacity 12,000mAh battery
- fully charge i get a warning telling me it it has "a very low capacity 15% and may be old or broken."
- i run acpi -i and it tells me the design capacity is 65,450 mAh and the last full charge was 10,303 mAh.
it holds a charge for 8+ hours (lasted 10 in low power mode, not sleeping)
the machine is an eeepc 1000h (if that matters)
is the battery junk? or is it not being read correctly because it's a 3rd party made in china battery? |

bmc, what's the make and model of the battery ?
I had thought that the batteries would be in a list like the other devices are, like in /usr/share/pci.ids, but they are not. It looks as if it's the job of ACPI to communicate with the battery and get all the info.
See this URL for some information:
http://www.acpi.info/spec.htm
The battery info starts at 3.9, and is quite extensive. I'm guessing that there's nothing wrong with the battery, maybe it ( the laptop - you installed the os with the old battery in it, and then changed the battery, right ? ) just needs to be 'zeroed' somehow, but then again, I really don't know. Perhaps a tech at the computer store could answer that question.
wish I knew more about this
edit: maybe you could switch it out to another machine and test it that way ? just a thought. _________________ There are 10 kinds of people in this world...those that understand binary and those that don't. |

I'm glad you contacted the company. I haven't had any probs with mine. I still haven't installed eeebuntu on it. *sigh* Been too busy. Also thinking of giving it to my mom as she does not yet do computers. I'd love to be able to send her emails, pics, etc.
I think that getting a replacement is a good idea. Keep us posted! _________________ StarSunflower.com
